It's widely believed that there will be an announcement of lay-offs Friday morning in Grand Rapids. Perhaps with people being laid-off immediately throughout the editorial departments and copy desks.
I'm posting the above with reservations, because it is from an anonymous source I would ask folks to consider the source before taking complete stock in it.
As you may recall, Booth informed employees that the job security pledge will end on Feb. 5 and that there likely will be layoffs. Just a matter of when the announcement will come.
there are twitter accounts that it ws 65 total in Gr - 15 from editorial
65 people laid-off at The GR Press. They will be required to work for about a month to get their severance.
Oh yeah, it happened, at least at the Kalamazoo Gazette. Press and production moving to G.R. in March. Layoffs throughout Advertising and Editorial.
