Speaking of AnnArbor.com

While I was in the land of pineapples and grass skirts Mgoblog reported the lead story on AnnArbor.com on one day in September was actually a four-year-old story out of another newspaper.

Ooops.

Don't bother with the link to the AnnArbor.com article, it has been removed.

"For our annarbor.com visitors, this story is from 2005. It was inexplicably linked. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Honestly, regardless of which side of the "aisle" you're on vis a vis Booth/Advance and its managers, can anyone credibly say that AnnArbor.com is anything but an abject failure?

AnnArbor.com was done on the cheap, and the product shows it. Straight up and down, it's a journalistic "Gong Show" of ineptitude.

Perhaps ... just perhaps, experience means something.

During the past year, we've had two aviation crashes with decidedly different results.

A plane that crashed in Buffalo was co-piloted by a young woman whose last words were something to the effect that she wished she had more experience flying in the icy Northeast. She was paid so little that she flew while sick. Everyone on board died, as well as someone on the ground.

The plane that safely landed on top of the Hudson river was piloted by an old pro who credits his Air Force training as one of the reasons he kept focused and cool. Everyone lived.

Yes, experience matters.

What plane would you rather fly on?

What newspaper would you rather read?

They're certainly foaming at the mouth about some new Wal-Mart opening ... even the ribbon-cutting is not being ignored.
