Blogging IS the new media

A frequent reader of this blog has started another, I think his third blog, covering issues in Davison. Kevin McKague is a former Davison City Councilmember who made some news when his wife, Joy Murray, was also elected to the same body a few years ago.
Kevin was forced to resign because his truck driving job took him out of town, but he has stayed active in local politics.
For those interested in Davison politics his new blog would be of great interest:

I will add it to my links as well.

Thanks, Kevin

Thanks for the link, sir.

Of course, blogs are only filling a need that can't (or won't) be filled elsewhere in the media.

For example, when The Davison Index told its readers five days before the mayoral election last year that votes for three of the four candidates wouldn't be counted, it would have been nice if another paper, or even tv news crew covered the error and helped preserve the election's integrity.

They didn't of course, so my old blog covered it. Same as when I uncovered the fact that the same newspaper probably broke campaign finance laws when they offered only one of the mayoral candidates a major discount on campaign ads. It just so happened that it was the same candidate who according to the erronious aforementioned story, who was the only one whose votes could be legally counted.

None of this was interesting enough for the traditional media, who felt squeemish about reporting about other newspapers.

So my blog covered it.

Thanks again!
