If you're not a fan of radio-controlled model aircraft, skip this post. But this is an amazing display of flying skills and a pretty cool, jet-powered model aircraft.
Mainly I posting this here because my father, a former pilot and a docent at the Air and Space Museum in Virginia will get a big kick out of this now that he has a high-speed Internet connection.

How cool is that model SR71?! My Dad, your stepfather, had remote control planes, but nothing like this baby! Wouldn't he have loved it?!
When I win the lottery I'm buying us one to play with.

You know your wife loves you if she's willing to be part of your hobby ... STANDING BY WITH THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!

Joan will not buy you one. nor will I.

And just exactly why not? If you go to YouTube.com and search for RC turbine crashes you can see what goes wrong when one of these things crashes.
The older the boy, the more expensive the toy.
Couple years back I stumbled across a website for enthusiasts of indoor RC flight -- little, tiny, frail, slow-flying craft that you guide around your living room. (A gymnasium, of course, is better.)
I'll try to find it again for you, Jim.
Well -- lots of sites to look at. Google "micro RC aircraft." No chance of fire -- battery powered tiny electric motors.
Thanks, looks like real fun....
Some of those RC pilots are really talented. I am amazed at the control they have.
