David Simon: Newspapers must charge for online content

Simon is right. The parasites who think journalism should be free on the internet should stop accepting a paycheck for whatever it is they do for a living.
But surely the question is not should newspapers charge, but can they? As I note in my blog http://bit.ly/11JVa1 , people can easily go to free news sites like BBC.co.uk to view what they percieve as the same quality news. Why would they pay?
