I think this article is related to the entire scope of what we are talking about. These guys are so big and have so much cash as of now because of their backers but I thought this read was an eye opening feature on YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, etc.
Yes, I believe Dan was considered for the Pulitzer (back before I was at the Journal). Another great reporter, who wasn't good enough (tongue firmly in cheek) for the Flint Journal who trumped up a reason to get rid of him.
I had to testify (in his behalf) in a wrongful discharge lawsuit. That, most assuredly, did not help my career goals, not that I worried about that.

You know me too well.
How about that Freep Pulitzer and the State News connection?
But, before the business development manager got kicked in the oompa loompa, he was promoted to content director ...

Can you name the SNers who have win Pulitzers?
Emrick and Jim Mitzelfeld are the only two that come immediately to mind.
I know there are more and you've probably got a list.
That would be a great post for you to put up so I could rip it off.
;)
Jim
p.s. David Ashenfelter?
Of course it's Elrick. Win a Pulitzer you should at least get your name spelled right.

Jim:
Wasn't one of your colleagues once a finalist for the pulitzer? Something about writing a series of articles while under cover.
