The Booth changes by another person who has experienced it
This blog post by a former Flint Journal reporter and editor says it better than I could.

We have been hearing over and over how great the company is doing. Every time I heard it I thought "yea, well where is my raise". What a joke. Out of 39 people that I work with on a daily basis on 12 will be left. That does not count all the people from editorial, circulation and the press room.
Yes, blog post says it well. But, um, sorry, who is Patrick Hayes? He's ID as a former FJ reporter and editor. Must've been both in the sports department because I never heard of him. Apparently, he worked there fairly recently but, as a long-time subscriber and ex-employee myself, I never recall seeing this name before. I have no doubt the man worked there, just wondering when it was, is all.
I worked at the FJ about 3 and a half years, from early 2007 to late 2010. I started as a sports editor in the weekly newspapers division, then moved on to become a sports writer in the FJ sports department after the 2009 layoffs. I also wrote a sports column on Fridays in the Journal for about year that was, based on your comment, very widely read. Haha. Nice to meet you though.
Patrick, this is Anon 8:43. Thank you for clearing this up. Nothing personal. Just didn't recognize your name -- only because I don't read the FJ sports pages closely. As I stated in my original post, I had no doubt you once worked for the paper.
