A full-time daily to hit the streets in Detroit again

Someone apparently believes that a full time daily can work in Detroit.

This sounds like a non-starter if I ever heard one. They'll need 150,000 paying subscribers in a few months to break even?? Detroit couldn't sustain three papers even in their heyday, let alone two in today's market. The chances of this succeeding are slim and none, and slim just left town.

Time will tell, of course, if the new Detroit venture WILL work, but there's not much question that, with the right mix of people and the right approach, it can. As to the whereabouts of "slim," maybe he's (she's) headed to Flint ... or any other Booth town for that matter.

Perfect time I think. Now that they have been without a 7 day paper it seems the perfect time to try to push one in. I say it will work. People want what they can't have. You have to actually sell the product to succeed. Something failing papers have not done in years. There is a market for newspapers but it is not gonna come to you; With so much competition you have to go to the market to succeed. I truly think it is possible but now you just have to work to reap the rewards.
