This is why I always liked Johnny Carson

I loved this, but I also like Abbott and Costello and The Three Stooges.

I lost all respect for Johnny Carson when he continually used his monologues to make fun of Nancy Spungen, a mentally-troubled girl who was murdered by her punk rock boyfriend. I respect what Carson did for late-night TV, but his humor was in very poor taste, and the fact that he never responded to the family's letter telling him how hurtful his "humor" was soured me. Considering the mental issues his son Rick had, you'd think Carson would've been more understanding.

I liked Carson. I enjoy Leno even more. Do you realize they both read the monologue that someone else wrote? Dave, Leno, Jimmy, they all have writers who write for them. Johnny did not write it, he read it! Leave him alone.

I guess I don't remember the Nancy Spungen episode and I'm not a big one for judging a person's whole life or career based on one or two missteps (I know I couldn't stand that scrutiny).

Also, I did know they both have writers, good writers, but comedy is more than writing a joke, it's the timing and delivery that will often make or break a joke.

Sorry Father, I just did not see what the big deal was. He was reading! I cant sleep without my Leno fix. Being a man who has a fault or five, I get a kick out of it.
