File photos, the new rule of the day

My Kalamazoo reader sent me another link to a breaking news story with a really silly file photo choice.

Come on, hire a photographer or two.

How about just not running a photo unless it's a photo of the killed driver or the actual accident scene?

Hiring? The only ones remaining are the same executives still congratulating each other for saving their own pensions and bonuses.

Are you going to blog about this? http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/03/mlive_media_group_awarded_by_s.html

The answer to your question is at the top of the blog today.

For some reason every story has to have a photo with it, even if it is an inane stock photo. Wonder how many different photos of police cars they have on file?

The addition of these stock photos actually makes it look like there is more "content" on Mlive then there is. They love to fill up space, whether it is periodic recaps, recaps of recaps, or writing two versions of the same story within hours of each other.

I installed two wonderful ad-blockers on my PC and it makes MLive's "content" stream look even more anemic.

Anyone find it odd that Kalamazoo did this story when it happened near Holland, which is a half hour from Grand Rapids?
