It's easy to see where the future of MLive is headed.
When the print products (and their revenue) finally disappear, the only way for the digital model to cut its losses will be to reduce costs, which means getting rid of content producers who are paid.
The MLive newspaper sites will rely almost entirely on "community conversation" -- in other words, free bloggers. Each "hub" will rely on these citizen journalists, which effectively will mean the end of the media's watchdog role in the community.
If people think there is corruption now in the political and business communities, just wait.
