It's official: Detroit Daily Press debuts November 23
A couple very familiar names among those hired. I knew one for several weeks, but couldn't say. Crain's has a story from the press conference today.

Glad to see see that one heckva writer and reporter — KC — will be covering Oakland County for this new paper. He will do well, me thinks. I wish him well.
So Don Quixote and Sancho Panchez ride again, eh? Believe me, I love the idea of a 7-day-a-week home-delivered paper (except, of course, the Oakland Press), but I fear the new newspaper won't make a dime for its owners or, more importantly, its employees.
I wish the new Detroit daily the greatest of success, but I fear the era of print journalism is over in Southeastern Michigan. And it's a damned shame.
Sure glad to see this new daily start up. I hope we get circulation in the Flint area. The only reason i buy The Flint Journal on Sunday is for the tv guide. the rest of it is worthless.
Metro Detroit is going to be a very tough market for a lot of reasons, including the fact that there are already several dailies -- albeit of varying health and quality. I think the real opportunity for these guys is in the Flint-Saginaw-Bay City area, which Booth has screwed up.
I think it might go. People [including myself] want a daily newspaper to read delivered to their homes. The only thing needed is good reporting and advertising to pay everyone and make a profit to the owners. Get a good mix of the above and circulation will follow.

I believe we are all rooting for the project even with a heavy dose of cynicism.
