More photos from the past

Here's another fun Journal photo from the past (three publishers ago). Once again Tom Cheek makes the photo. He's the one behind Shrek. It's a small size photo and won't get bigger if you click on it.

Gee, thought that was a picture of the entire "new & improved" Journal hub staff after Jan 2nd.

I see the MLive Media Group is down to 43 job postings. They've apparently hired quite a few people. But some top people at the old Booth have decided not to join the new company.

Yes, I previously reported some of that in the following post:

The post removed above was an exact repeat of the second post in the thread. I didn't notice that until I posted it.

Check this put Jim:

It seems to me that the FJ was going to do a bunch of extra printing with those new presses.. Any idea what happened there?

Yes, Anonymous 18:07, it was the recession.

To anonymous 18:07 and 15:25,
I don't know about Flint regarding print expansion, but I can tell you about Kalamazoo. We had the same goal to expand commercial print. And we did. We were having trouble fitting all the extra work into 3 shifts. At the time of our closure we were actually adding clients and had a big one or two on the hook ready to reel them in. Despite the recession we seemed to be finding work. I suspect our closure was less about our own finances and more about those of our big sis to the north, Grand Rapids. G.R was supposed to be the flagship of the state, but their revunue wasn't real good. I think we were fed to them to try and buy more time for G.R. to figure something out and the recession to smooth over.
Like I said I know this doesn't relate to Flint but my hunch is that there were similar politics happening over there.

Yes anonymous 09:27. It is. Do you have any thoughts?
Your post of few words has me oddly curious if you're from K'zoo?

Hi Anonymous 01:02. No, my ties run more toward Flint and how your comments might related there, if at all. But we're both kindred spirits.
