AnnArbor.com finally responds to layoffs

The three leaders of AnnArbor.com have come forward (partially) to update the community on their recent layoffs, etc.

It's amazing to me that they needed a year-and-a-half to find out that what people want is crime and breaking local news. Any first year journalism student could probably tell you that, but better late than never.

Keep the comments on the topic and not so much the personalities. Thanks.

Why does an organization down to so few employees need three honchos?

Hell this paper boy could tell ya what sells a paper.. Murder and mayhem.

The Flint area has a probable murder/suicide a couple of weeks back that spans from Flint Township to Grand Blanc.. So where does this hot newspaper selling story land in the Flint Journal? Page three!

Helloo!

Yet another weary apology "we should have said something sooner" from Mr. Dearing.

Anonymous 13:24 asks a very, very good question. Each has an administrative assistant to boot.

Nice work, IF you can get it.

One thing that, for me, is insufficiently articulated is how you can announce that you are a success, then lay people off. At minimum, it challenges what many of us would consider common sense. And the more snarky among us would call this B.S. And has been said already, how does one trust the judgment of managers who, so far as can be told, have no track record of success?

nice that aa.com laid off the U-M hockey writer just before they reached the Frozen Four. I guess he wasn't getting enough hits in the regular season. I bet he would now.
