Another "not-so-green" house for Al Gore
Now that Al and Tipper are breaking up (and I do feel badly about that) you'd think he'd use that as an opportunity to green up his living quarters. According to USA Today, not so much. Those profits from "Inconvenient Truth" are helping finance a pretty "Convenient Lifestyle."

I'm still not sure what you expect a former V.P. to do. His last house housed his offices, his staff and Secret Service detail. It utilized solar and renewable energy.
There simply aren't a lot of houses already out there that have green technology, much less one that can keep a former V.P. of the United States safe. He'll probably add green tech to this house just as he did the last one. I doubt he's going to move the staff and Secret Service into an efficiency apartment though.

Somehow a former President, one not known for his environmental stances can live a lot greener lifestyle and in a much smaller home. Certainly he has as much need for Secret Service and offices at a former V.P.
And just for the record, I don't care how extravagently Al Gore lives, he's earned his money he can live anyway he wants. I just want him to shut up about the sacrifices that he wants the rest of us to make. What's good for the V.P. is good for the.....
I always find it ironic that those guys talked about shared sacrifice, then put in h.c. law that Congress, pres, etc. are exempt. Ever read about Obama's estate in Chi? No sacrifice there, just a sweet pad. Not that the repubs live any differently, mind you, they just don't preach sacrifice to people.
The claim that the members of Congress are exempt from provisions of the health care law is just one of many false accusations made about the law.

You're right, of course. Not exempt, per se, they just never had any intention of having that garbage for their health care. Doesn't that make it worse?
Henry B. Gonzales, a very leftwing house of representatives congressman from San Antonio who twice tried to draft legislation to impeach Reagan, was one dem who put his money where his mouth was. He lived in an extremely modest home in a town when the movers and shakers live in the wealthy areas.
They say Gore's monthly energy bill was in the multi-thousand dollar range. Is this to be expected when a person's using solar and renewable energy?
Quite simply if there is a national health care policy, it should include everyone including members of congress. They would have been a lot more concerned with what was or wasn't in the package if their butts and gall bladders were on the line.
Anon (10 June, 2010 11:23), the health care law doesn't require anybody to change their current health care insurance provider. Your point about members of Congress not accepting "that garbage for their health care" is mute. There is no public option. There is no new government plan in this law that anybody is being offered, much less forced to accept.
