What a difference 40 years makes

I had forgotten (until I saw this on a friend's Facebook) that Winston was the original sponsor of the Flintstones. Image any company making this commercial today.

The cigarettes were cheaper back then. Now, those things are over $6.00 a pack!!! Glad I quit!

Oh wow. My health teacher in High School sang us the jingle once. Now I finally get to hear it! Thanks for posting that.

Gotcha beat. In my Navy days we paid $1 a carton or 10 cents a pack. Probably the reasons I started. It was so cheap. Can't remember if that was when we were in Vietnam waters where there was no tax. But I'm pretty sure we could always get them for 10 cents a pack.

Boredom. Peer pressure. And the low prices were commensurate with what we were being paid each month. What could possibly go wrong with selling addictive carcinogens to youngsters?

Still waiting for a lengthy post on your Navy days. And one about your father's Air Corp service would be nice, too.
