AnnArbor.com offers free Internet, comfy couches

Made my monthly stop over on AnnArbor.com and found out they now have free Internet and comfy couches available. Apparently, it has been slow so far. The comments on the article are pretty brutal.

Did you notice that fine looking furniture? What a joke! I wonder how much money they wasted on that furniture that no one is using?

Booth is brain dead. That they let this nonesense continue on under the direction of a clueless leadership is beyond understanding.

I just read somewhere else: You can't fix stupid.

Perhaps they should invest in their content instead of their office space. You can dress up a pig, but it's still a pig.

The Saginaw News building is sold so now there is no physical presence in the city of Saginaw. The Bay city Times building in Bay City is nearly 2/3 empty. they have two single copy sales racks in front of the building, both empty and non functional making the place look deserted and when you call about subscritions or placing a classified ad you end up talking to someone in Grand Rapids who is bewildered by every question you ask and tells you they will have someone get back with you later (of course that does not happen). I used to spend 30 - 45 minutes reading the Sunday paper and at least 15 or 20 minutes the daily. Now I don't think I spend more than 10 minutes on any given day. Are they trying to close the physical newspaper so they can go all on line?

this ann arbor free internet lounge thing makes me sick. booth fired its reporters, screwed people out of severance packages, destroyed a great newspaper chain and replaced good journalists with green press release re-writers. and then they went out and bought leather couches and computers for people to use for free? maybe some of the out of work journalists they FIRED can sleep there.
