I'm currently sailing on the Carnival Cruise ship "Spirit" off the coast of Alaska. Many years ago the U.S. Government gave me several free cruises on their cruise ships to the exotic Vietnam coastline. I have attached photos of all three. Let me know which one is my favorite. Be careful, the obvious answer could be wrong.

hmmmm... I'd bet it was the USS Hoel... cause you were on your way home from your two year tour of duty. Free at last.
I suddenly remember your "Captain's having tea" flag! Ha@nvcaby
Oh.. and I remember the captain's command when you went ashore somewhere "A good time will be had by all."
A different kind of "good time" is being had today! Have fun!!
My guess is the Cogswell DD651 as visting my brother on it in San Diego made me decide to join the Air Force. Wrong move in retrospect as I ended up in Vietnam
anyway.
Chris wins the prize!
The Hoel was my favorite ship, mostly because we saw more action and it was a newer ship than the Cogswell.
I'll comment further on the "Captain's Having Tea" flag and the "good time will be had by all" comment in a new item.
But first I must unpack. The Cogswell, jim's brother, was my second favorite, but only by a little. Sorry about causing the inspiration that ended up sending you to Vietnam. I'll have more to say on that later as well.
Also, jim's brother, thanks to you and Barbara for the wonderful on board gift that was waiting for us when we arrived on the ship in Whittier, Alaska. Very thoughtful and I'll talk to you more about it on the phone.
Jim
