David Simon: Newspapers must charge for online content
A frequent reader sent along a link to a column by famed cop reporter David Simon about the future of newspapers, journalism and the need to charge for online content.
Simon is right. The parasites who think journalism should be free on the internet should stop accepting a paycheck for whatever it is they do for a living.
But surely the question is not should newspapers charge, but can they? As I note in my blog http://bit.ly/11JVa1 , people can easily go to free news sites like BBC.co.uk to view what they percieve as the same quality news. Why would they pay?
